About this deal

There’s also a lot of effort to expand on the giant’s larger cultural structure, pushing them towards something a bit more than being big plus one obsession per giant type. Discerning players can gain a lot from balancing the expenditure of spell slots and these invocations as long as they properly understand the risk of cutting off access to any specific spell.

There are also more than 70 pages of bestiary for when the DM does want to have fights against giants. In total, the new material in Glory of the Giants that directly contributes to choices for character building amounts to one subclass, two backgrounds, and eight feats. Delves into unrevealed giant lore, including an overview of the hierarchical structure of the ordning and giants’ religion, and ideas about giants’ organizations and societies across the multiverse. Rune Carvers are better for characters focusing on an intellectual and artistic approach, with proficiencies in History and Perception and a set of artisan's tools. Some of these force saving throws upon enemies to inflict conditions or various disadvantages, while others stick to the basic damage. As part of the launch of Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants, Wizkids has released a new miniature lineup inspired by the book. Here Bigby and the demigod Diancastra, child of the giants’ All-Father, Annam, unveil the secrets of Annam’s mighty descendants. The most interesting twist on the formula comes in the ability to invoke an inscribed rune without using a spell slot or material components with the side effect of locking out use of the spell until the next long rest. The 2024 Core Rulebooks provide new options for players and DMs along with updates and improvements to the classes, mechanics, items, and monsters of fifth edition.

Rune Magic unlocks the knowledge of a number of runes equal to half of the character's proficiency bonus, which can be inscribed onto objects once per long rest to allow for spellcasting. The principal shared features of the two Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants subclasses are the knowledge of the Giant language and the ability to tap into the magic of the giants, although the latter feature presents itself in very different forms. The selection of possibilities connects to various types of giant, with cloud, fire, frost, hill, stone, and storm strikes available. However, with a big focus on high-level encounters and not a lot of new stuff for players, I'm not sure how much wide appeal it's going to have. Adds giant-themed player character options where adventurers can evoke the glory of giants with new subclasses, backgrounds and feats. Also, for reasons unclear to me, there’s a Cheshire cat (don’t get me wrong, it’s neat, I’m just not sure why this is the book it showed up in).
