About this deal

To say their past material has been spotty at best is as kind as it’s possible to be, and it’s not like Hypa Hypa or its subsequent follow-ups have represented a gigantic uptick in quality or reputability.

In March of that year, the band toured Europe supported by Iwrestledabearonce, Her Bright Skies and To the Rats and Wolves. In December 2021, the band announced that they would be going on a United States tour with Attack Attack! The style of both clean vocalists (no screaming in sight) is undeniable and it even includes a vocal layer that sounds identical to the opening note of the chorus in Avril’s ‘Bite Me’.Yes, the critic hat unfortunately does have to come back on and the party has to stall, because for as entertaining as Tekkno is, that’s not enough to fully slide it outside the realm of issues that hold it back from much more. When all is said and done, as the last few notes of the outro ‘Neon’ fade out, what you get is an album that would be good to play at both a nightclub at 2am, as well as in a field in Derbyshire at a certain metal festival. Parasite‘ keeps the rave cave phase alive with an intro that takes me back to listening to the likes of The Prodigy, Deadmau5 and Tiesto before opening up for the chorus with cleans and screams surrounded by bassy synth and background riffs.

For frivolous lyrics like, “We are young, we are free / sippin’ on booze on a sunny beach,” I’ll gladly bring out my glowsticks. With tons of energy and fun on board, the band from Castrop-Rauxel delivers an unprecedentedly fulminant metalcore-firework that is second to none. I’ve included the live version below so you can get an understanding of what you’re in for – and help you get pit ready in anticipation – because you’re gonna need that stamina mates! The album flashes by like lightning during the first listen, clocking in at about half an hour in total – it’s over before you know it. This is only seen a handful of times in ‘Spaceman’ and ‘Hurikkan’ during their most camp pop moments. The band was nominated for the Up And Coming (best newcomer award) at the German Metal Hammer Awards, held in Berlin on 13 September 2013, which they won. This track almost feels like the experiment that led to the rest of the heavy electronic tracks sounding polished and is very much a filler song, which wasn’t expected considering the captivating ones heard so far. They’re by far the least entertaining points on Tekkno, not for being bad as much as a bit generic and disjointed with the overall tone. Nicholas Senior of New Noise Magazine stated, "Tekkno appropriately feels like a rebirth for the famed ravecore pioneers.

My EDM phase may have died a long long time ago, but I can just imagine fluoro wearing Browny losing his mind to this at Summafielddayzeor Global Gathering (I didn’t go to Stereosonicbecause I wasn’t ripped enough). Sure some tracks are passable but for the most part, it’s a fresh approach to an at times, tiresome and repetitive landscape of breakdowns and blastbeats… In saying that, BRING ON THE LIVE SHOWS! Singles such as “Pump It” and “We Got The Moves” proved how the band sounds in 2021, delivering a decent dose of heaviness at the beginning of their new album and an irresistible chorus that makes “Pump It” a true showcase for the versatility in their sound. The last section of the track is full to the brim with blast beats and rapid double kicks, as well as growls, screeches, and even a pig squeal thrown in for good measure. and you’ll either be down for the ride or find yourself hitting the skip button for something less intense.
