About this deal

The dash cam's 12W of power is supplied via USB, and if your car doesn’t have a USB connection then you can use the supplied cigarette charger with USB instead. The standalone model reviewed here doesn’t have the necessary port for you to add the rear module later. The Miofive 4K dash cam is high-spec car camera that's armed with a range of premium features, including a powerful Sony sensor, 64GB of internal storage and 5Ghz Wi-Fi for speedy transfers to your phone. The fact that the camera can record at Ultra High-Definition (UHD) 4K (3840 x 2160p at 30 frames per second – or fps) is pretty impressive; you can pick out detail with the recording, numberplates and makes and models, all essential in case of an incident. Both front and rear-facing cameras have a 140-degree field of view, which only covers the windscreen view.

Thinkware App and Thinkware Cloud - also included in the purchase - allow you to playback footage, check the location of your vehicle and receive geo-fencing and impact notifications directly on your compatible iOS or Android smartphone. The camera was powered by its 12V cable, and operated via both the unit itself and through the mobile app to compare the two experiences. Other features include a seven-element lens with a 140-degree field of view, and Sony Starvis night vision technology. In a world of dash cams that want you to connect via an app, then insert and format a SD card before getting any action, that’s refreshing.I can't report about the camera’s performance in a collision because, thankfully, I didn’t experience any such events. Miofive’s 4K dash cam is an impressive package, combining a slender form factor with a beefy specification and top-notch video recording.

This camera offers stop and go alarms to warn you when traffic ahead is moving off or coming to a halt. For driver assistance, the Miofive is also equipped with AI Algorithms such as Go Assist to monitor traffic conditions, and receive alerts of sudden braking and turns - which the Thinkware U1000 also covers with its ADAS and Safety Camera Alert functions. It’ll also record all the times you have been on the phone and everything you will be talking about. This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees. The hardwire kit isn't included and it isn't cheap, but some people might find this feature worth funding. Used regularly over time to get a feel for how it works and behaves, in the real world and download videos directly to my phone. For the most part, you’ll likely keep the Miofive Dual Dash Cam in its Loop Video mode, which is continually recording one-minute clips. Installation is simple with enough cable supplied to reach my cars 12v socket and tuck into the trim around the door and roof lining. It features a new 2K rear camera and doubles internal memory on the previous model, plus it's powered by a super capacitor instead of a battery.
