About this deal

The Knight Abominant is a beast in all phases of the game, with deadly guns that can reap infantry and heavy targets alike, an armoury of vicious close-combat weaponry in the form of an electroscourge and a tail-mounted balemace, and the malefic ability to manifest two psychic powers each turn. It’s the perfect overlord for your Fallen house. Knight Castigator: Designed to take down hordes of lesser foes with its Castigator Bolt Cannon. [5] Applied at the right moment, these abilities can give your supporting Knights the boost they need to claim victory – while keeping them safe from your dishonourable foes. The Knight Crusader, for example, can use Crusader’s Duty to improve the Ballistic Skill of a nearby squire, such as an Armiger Helverin. For some reason Archmagos Draykavac and Anacharis Scoria have their profiles in the Persona Schismata section, rather than in the core list. Since they’re HQs, we’re including them here, noting that they’re both Traitors.

While reciting this inspiring lesson, the MENTOR ’s encouraging aura causes nearby ARMIGER-CLASS allies to land an extra strike on all hit rolls of 6. This potent benefit synergises wonderfully with the newly-upgraded reaper chain-cleavers , giving your squires eight hit rolls with the Sweep profile – and up to 16 total hits!** The lighter Armiger-class Knights, akin to squires or a hunter's beaters, are piloted by minor Nobles or elevated household guards. Instead of sitting the full Throne Mechanicum, Armiger pilots don the Helm Mechanicus, a device that allows them to control their Knight but also neurally bonds them to a higher-ranking Noble. Take the Gatekeeper – an ancient, traditional station for those who hold down the fort on a Knight World. While this doughty Knight is defending your deployment zone, attempts to wound it will always fail on an unmodified roll of 1-3 – and their Bondsman ability can increase the Toughness of any squires tasked with holding objectives, such as the Armiger Warglaives. The Liber Mechanicum is a land of contrasts. The core Mechanicum list that it supports, the main army it’s for, has gotten a rough end of the deal – not many choices for army special rules, a lot of serious downsides in their units, and not many stand out options for army selection. You can certainly have a great time with these lists and for some people that’ll be all that matters, but it’s a shame that they don’t seem to have had the same glow up as the marines did.Uhlan - Followed by the most hot-blooded and impetuous Knights. In war, they seek to destroy the foe in close-range assaults. They are often used as advance scouts and reavers. [17] Finally it’ll be really interesting to see what rules Forge World Knights get. Plastic Cerastus are being made for Heresy, which will make them way more accessible. I expect that the plastic kits will be out before the full Imperial Knight Codex, so it’s possible they’ll feature in it. Besides these broad titles and ranks, a number of lesser and more exotic Household ranks also exist. These include: [17] To the glorious sounds of big stompy feet, assorted enormous guns and a resounding HONK from their warhorns, here come the Imperial Knights!

With 30″ of range, you’ll be able to engage more dangerous foes from afar, while you’ll only need to get within 15″ of your opponents to capitalise on increased damage. Thanks to the Assault weapon type, you can close in rapidly without necessarily sacrificing firepower. There’s another reason you’ll want to get as close to the enemy as possible too – the deadly reaper chain-cleaver. The Change to Strats and Discounts hit Knights pretty hard. Not only did most of their strats go up, the change to how discounts works means that Canis’ can only discount Shoulder the Mantle and according to GW’s ruling at their own events also can’t use it on Command Reroll Armiger Knights are long-legged combat walkers designed to strike hard and fast at critical targets. Nimbler than the primary Imperial Knight patterns, these engines of war carry heavy weaponry powerful enough to break a battle line. From there, the things you likely want to consider are either a third Questoris Knight, That Dominus we mentioned or one of the Cerastus Knights that isn’t the Archeon. The stand out as of this writing being the Atropos who is an amazing all rounder and has significant advantage over most Questoris Knights. They also gain a special Crusade Duty, for those narrative campaigns – look out for those in the codex! This will tend to make it better to bring something other than a Questoris Knight as your allied Freeblade, as they’re the ones whose abilities are most keyed into the Knights’ army. Dominus Knights lose less because they don’t have Bondsman Abilities anyway. Canis Rex loses least because, as an Epic Hero, he isn’t allowed Enhancements anyway, and he has no Bondsman Ability either. Even he will lose out as he’ll only be able to use his Legendary Freeblade ability for generic stratagems, not the Imperial Knight ones.

Battlefield terrain is a bit friendlier now. You can see through windows! The cowardly foe can’t hide behind things and shoot at you any more. And you can get the benefit of cover from ruins, statues and forests fairly easily. This slightly depends on the defensive profiles you’re up against. At a baseline, the thermal spear on Warglaives is good for dealing some damage to big targets, as unlike a lot of melta weapons it’s been significantly bumped up in strength this time around, hitting at S12. Lay Low re-rolls work really well with this (low shot count, high quality is where this sort of thing is best), and can certainly do the lift for you against moderately crunchy target. The first of two types of Myrmidons, Secutors are combat monsters designed to shred Terminators with Strength 7, AP2 and Hatred while not suffering nearly as much in return. If you hit a Vehicle, Sunder will help, while 6 bolter shots per model will thin out crowds a little before you mulch them. You can even upgrade them with some interesting weapon choices, but really you want these guys to hit melee as soon as possible. Troops and Dedicated Transports To pilot an Armiger is an honour, albeit one much less prestigious than piloting a fully fledged Knight. For this reason, Armiger pilots are drawn from the lesser nobility of a Knight world, from distant cousins of the ruling House to commoners and lowborn uplifted by virtue of their exceptional talent for war.

The FAQ

The following information is not to be regarded as officially sanctioned and/ or is not written from an in-universe point of view. A detailed explanation of the term "Trivia" as used in the Lexicanum can be found here. Armiger Pattern Knights, also called Armiger-class Knights and known as War Dog-class Knights among the Questor Traitoris, are the lightest class of Imperial Knight in use by the Imperium of Man and the Adeptus Mechanicus, usually piloted by Nobles who are of lesser lineage than other Knight pilots.
